Kishan Kumar is a student in the ‘remedial education programme’ along with his elder brother ‘Ravi Kumar’ at Premjyoti. His grandparents couldn’t afford to send him to a good school. His name was enrolled in the Government school in class-3 but he did not go to school. When we went to visit the family, he was just playing around in dirty environment. We convinced his grandparents & other parents of same locality to send their children to school. Though it was not easy to convince that ‘Vanvasi (tribes)’ family, we manage to bring him to school. In the beginning he could not identify English & Hindi letters but now he can read books & very active in the class.

His father’s excessive drinking habit often becomes the cause of quarrel between parents. He often beat up his wife and children. He has extra marital affairs also. So Kishan Kumar’s mother stays with her parents. But their also his father comes for quarrel. So he fears that any day he can be forced to stop his studies.
